About ISO

ISO stands for International Standardization Organization. The head office of ISO is located in Geneva city of Switzerland. This is a great Organization who is helping the world silently. This organization has been helping the world by presenting new standard in different industrial and service sectors.

ISO has been working since 1947 but I feel strange when many people do not know about ISO Organization. This organization has been working restlessly to present new standard which brings welfare for people and for the world.

Does it provide ISO Certificate? Many people ask me about ISO when I go to companies for  marketing purpose. They ask will their certificate come from ISO? Those of you have no idea about ISO please be confirmed from my this ISO post that ISO does not issue a ISO Certificate. They introduce only ISO standard. You can say it is like a Parliament house of your country.

Parliament house thinks about your country about your people’s welfare but ISO thinks about the world about the welfare of world population.. But target of both organizations are same. They think about the people they think about the welfare of people. There are around 160 countries who are members of ISO. They have Technical committee. Members are from different countries of that Technical committee. They are busy to present new standard and review the old standards.

Who Issues ISO Certificate? There are many third party Organization most of them are created in developed countries. They are called the CERTIFICATION BODY. Like others Bureau of Assessment Services is an  Certification Body. They are registered  Companies in their respective countries. To supervise them there is a Accreditation Body. This is also called AB. Usually these are consisted in different countries and in different Organizations. To know more about CB and AB you may visit here. To know more about ISO you may go here.

What is the ISO

What is the ISO? It is  a very common question around the world among the product and service producers and consumers too. So let’s know what is the short form of this word ISO. ISO is a short form of International Organization for Standardization.

ISO has comes from Greek world “isos” means equal. Later from ISOS has changed into English world ISO. Worldwide all manufactures will maintain a same standard for producing product or services. Establishing ISO was the major aim of that.

ISO is an  organization which was founded in Geneva city of  Switzerland. In 1947 first it started its journey to protect customer’s right. From the beginning this organization has been introducing various standards time to time  for products and service oriented organization. By adopting and implementing those standards a organization can claim that it is maintaining a standard which is accepted internationally.

Since 1947 until now ISO organization has introduced 19,000 standards. Now 164 countries are the members of this organization. This is a great friend of world population. It has been working as a safeguard of consumers around the world.

Manufacturers or service providers always think about profit. Sometimes they do not maintain a minimum standard or quality to  present good product or services to the people. But if a organization adopt an  ISO standards in his organization, then the organization is bound to abide by some rules and regulation which is very consumers friendly.

Food poisoning is a great concern nowadays. In this regard ISO has  contributed a lot by introducing a standard HACCP 22000. By this standard a company is committed to produce quality food or food products for its customers. In the  food industry this is a widely used ISO standard for food manufacturers.

So, we can come to a conclusion that ISO is a great welfare based nonprofit organization which has been working for consumers. For producing quality products or services it’s contribution is lot.

For developing countries it is a great friend for accessing his product in the international market. By accepting and implementing a specific ISO standard a manufacturer easily can claim that he is producing quality product or services. So easily he can sell his product in the International market. This way manufacturers from developing countries can be benefited from ISO.
