Why ISO 14001? It is the question of the manufacturing  industries  who are producing chemical, fertilizer, garments, textiles, construction, Oil field, dyeing or other related industries which have very much effect on environment.

Nowadays our environment is in great risk. Too much industrialization is the major causes of this. Without considering bad sides of industrialization people around the world have built up huge industries. As a result green house effect is the major concern of that.

ISO 14001 standard is the standard which can be used to minimize the bad effect on environment. It was first introduced by Geneva based International Organization ISO in 1996. Later  is upgraded and known as ISO 14001:2004. It is also known as a Environmental Management  System Standard.

ISO 14001:2004 can be taken by any kind of organization who are concerned about environment. It is a great tool for manufacturing industry which have very bad effect on environment.

A company can be benefited from this standard in different ways. It decreases the cost of waste management. It Saves energy and materials, It can develop a company’s status domestically and internationally.

Our global climate is changing very rapidly. Still the certification on environment management system is limited only on third party audit. To protect our environment every country’s government should introduce and implement  new law and regulation to protect it from the paw of unplanned industrialization around the world.

Now 14001:2004  is a requirements for many kinds of industrial product manufacturers. In Bangladesh there are not enough experienced EMS auditors. However BAS has few 14001 auditors who have auditing and working experiences with foreign EMS auditor on various top label organization in Bangladesh. These companies are already certified on  ISO 1400:2004  Standard.
